How much do I love Shawn Johnson for using the August Rush soundtrack (“August’s Rhapsody”) for her floor exercise music? Lots and lots and lots.
And then they had to spend ten minutes on Bush. Who can’t even pronounce the names of the world leaders he’s been talking to, much less “Ossetia.” Melanie Rawn fans [...]

Once! I tuned in too late to see the song performed, but just in time to see it win. I just sent the DVD back to Netflix. The mini-review I left said something like, “Ho-hum plot and dialogue, transcendent music.” (I’m too lazy to go look it up.) Quite pleased that the song won — [...]

If you’re going to be in Austin on Tuesday night, you could check out Michael’s cousin at Emo’s.

Wow. Podrunner really does make workouts not suck.
Excuse me while I fall over; my legs are now limp noodles.

I am very sad that I learned of woxy.com only because someone recently mentioned its imminent demise. It’s a lovely station.
I’m busy this weekend putting together the new design for the business site. I wasn’t happy with the first one, and (if all goes well) the domain without the hyphen will be ours on Tuesday. [...]

To everyone who liked Anna Nalick: try KT Tunstall, Tina Dico, and Over the Rhine. Excellent stuff, if you go for altos-with-guitars (and of course I do). Anything else in that vein I should check out? I’m always on the hunt for things I can sing to on the way to work.
Anna Nalick has a [...]

(Yes, I have to work today.) Pandora is the coolest thing EVER. I’m looking for a few last-minute gifts, so I typed in an artist [a certain person] enjoys, and Pandora’s steadily spitting out CDs I can go look for. And rather than just give you a list, it plays a track from each in [...]

Because I just couldn’t deal with the wedding anymore.
Buffy and Angel music
Girly rock
Insanely happy songs
There’s some crossover. My playlists are terribly inbred.

Bought two CDs on a whim last night: Dar Williams (”Beauty of the Rain”) and Kirsty MacColl (”Tropical Brainstorm”). Lovely, lovely stuff. Check out the lyrics to Kirsty’s ”England 2, Columbia 0.” Funny even without the music. (If you’re reading them, it should be noted that she was English, and the ”0” is pronounced ”nil.”)

I picked up the new Buffy soundtrack yesterday. Turns out all the online stores have the wrong track listing. Here’s the real one, for when you go to rip it and find that it’s not in the CDDB yet:
1. Buffy Main Title Theme – The Breeders
2. Stop Thinking About It – Joey Ramone
3. Bohemian Like [...]

It has come to pass that the RIAA has levied a $2000 fine against a 12-year-old girl from what appears to be an underpriveleged household, without ever having been required to prove its claims to anyone, least of all the U.S. legal system.
This is a practice colloquially known as extortion.
Update: The artists think so too. [...]

New Sarah McLachlan album, ”Afterglow,” to be released Nov. 4. I snagged about 2/3 of the ”Fallen” mp3 before Nettwerk yanked it (idiots), and it’s vaguely disappointing in that there’s nothing really new about it, but it’s very nice to hear her sing something other than the same damn fifteen songs after all this time.

Dido has a new album coming out in September (at last!) and evidently David Boreanaz stars in the first video. Spiff. (via Whedonesque)
Another long-overdue event: Verisign can now be held accountable for their dumb mistakes. It is to be hoped that they will now be sued out of existence.

Click the column headers to sort the tables. As usual, using other people’s Javascript produces an odd result. I might know the cause of the bug. Too tired to investigate it now.
