Emese Gaal

Emese Gaal is an excellent photographer. Her blog is all about sports lately, which doesn’t do much for me, but her gallery is amazing. Check out the lovely wallpaper! The Colors of San Diego gallery at Yasse is lovely. (Flip to the last page of the interview and click the link to open the popup window.) (via metafilter)

A color-impaired designer could do worse than to find a photographer s/he likes, save a few photos, and start running the inkdropper over them in Photoshop. Here’s a palette I did a while back (but never used) using a photo I found on iStockPhoto.

  1. I have been trying to find out what happened to Emese Gaal in that her supurb photo blog and gallery sites have gone. You had an article about her last year

and I wonder if you know why she is no longer posting?

  2. No, I wish I did. I blogged what I saw at the time, and though I’ve been back there since, it wasn’t recently. I didn’t realize she’d disappeared. :(

I’m addicted to the NYTimes maps this morning, especially the county bubble view. Hello, population distribution! It’s fascinating to compare this year to 2004.
